Why More Fitness Isn’t Always Better Fitness (And Why a 30-Minute Class Might Be All You Need)
Let me ask you something.
When you're at work, do you ever say, “I know how to do this task in 20 minutes, but I’m going to stretch it out to take an hour just for fun!”
Of course not. That’s madness. We value time, efficiency, and results. So why, in the world of fitness, do we keep flogging the idea that longer = better?
Here’s the truth bomb: more does NOT always mean better. Not in business, not in life, and definitely not in training.
Correlation vs Causation: A Gym Myth That Needs Binning
People often look at shredded influencers doing 90-minute gym sessions and think “ah, that must be the reason they look like that.” But that’s correlation, not causation.
Maybe they train long because they’ve got time, or it’s their job, or they’ve got the genetics of a Greek statue. Doesn’t mean that’s what you need.
What you actually need is direction. A plan. Focus, intensity, and purpose.
And that, my friend, is where a trainer comes in.
Quality Over Quantity: The Trainer Advantage
A good trainer isn’t just a rep counter. They're a time-saving, result-delivering, no-fluff, BS-filtering machine.
They’ll help you:
Avoid junk volume (yes, that’s a thing)
Train smarter, not longer
Hit the movements that actually move the needle
Stay consistent, which – let’s face it – is the real secret sauce
You wouldn’t build a house without a blueprint. So why build your body without one?
The Lifefit Way: Smarter Workouts in Less Time
This is exactly why our Lifefit classes are 30 minutes long.
No waffle, no Instagram posing, no wandering around wondering what machine to use next. Just solid, evidence-based training delivered in a way that fits your life – not the other way around.
Because time is precious. And we’d rather you use that extra 30 minutes to pick the kids up, get some work done, or actually enjoy your day – not just sweat for the sake of it.
Final Thought: Don’t Look for the Hardest Way, Look for the Smartest Way
If you had a job to do, you’d choose the most efficient way to do it. You wouldn't intentionally find the most complicated, time-consuming route just to feel like you “earned” the result.
So don’t do that with your training either.
Train smart. Train with purpose. Get in. Get results. Get on with life.
And if you’re still stuck in the “more is better” loop – maybe it’s time for a trainer who can show you a better way.
